Books for learning to play guitar?

I’ve recently gotten more free time on my hands. One thing I’ve regretted is never learning an insturment. I want to start playing guitar. Are there any beginners books that anyone would recommend? (I’m looking to learn the basics myself, then progress to actual lessons) also im 25, is that too ancient to pick up an instrument and become proffecient?

Get Guitars for Dummies, trust me, best book there is :)

No, 25 is not too ancient.

Books are okay, but there are so many Instructional DVDs out and it is really better to see an instructor.

Go to Musiciansfriend.com and click on the link to books/DVDs. Many to choose from.
    Brilliant Luck.

no, you’re not too ancient to learn the guitar.
if you want to learn quickly- i suggest.
you pick up lessons on metal guitar, they’re
simple to learn and you can play some really cool
    licks in a week.
