Should I get a left-handed or right-handed guitar?

I know you’re thinking this is a stupid question, but just listen to me. I’m a lefty, so my dominant hand is my left hand. Right now I have a right-handed guitar because I got it for free. I tried playing it, but I have some difficulty with strumming. I have the money to buy a lefty guitar, but I was wondering if it really made a difference. Should your dominant hand be for strumming?

Go for the Lefty guitar. Your dominent hand is always your best prospect. You do alot of movements with your dominant hand, yes youll use your right hand for the chords and whatnot, but I can guarentee you’ll find it alot simpler if your dominant hand is doing the strumming.

im a righty, so I do my best when im using my right hand. Where as it would be the opoosite for you.

    So Brilliant LUCK!

I reckon it is simple enough to play guitar with your left hand doing the fingering and your right doing the strumming or picking. I believe the left hand fingers do the most work. Some people claim the first string instruments were invented by a left handed man.
You will be able to play friends guitars and they will be able to play yours,
They make about anything left handed now days, but I am sure you are used to computer Keyboards and read right handed books plus numerous other items that were designed for right handed people.
Left handed guitars are available if you feel you have to have one. The price is usually about the same on cheap models but more for top of the line instruments.
Don’t make the choice too quickly
    Brilliant Luck

I would go for the lefty if I were you.
Of course you could always train yourself to play right-handed if you work hard enough, but it’ll be simpler in the beginning if you play lefty.

Now the fascinating thing is, if you do play the righty, your dominant hand would be fingering the notes. Who knows, maybe fingering with your dominant hand will sort of level it out? This is just my theory, of course.

But you’re not here to be an experiment, you want to learn to play the guitar. So you’d better go with the lefty :p haha

You know really I’ve always wanted to learn lefty. If you watch Avenged Sevenfold’s music videos, one of their guitarists is a lefty, and they play back to back. It’s very eye-appealing. Check it out, and brilliant luck.
