RIP SRV. People who havn’t studied SRV music can’t appreciate him or the blues. He lived the blues and he loved the blues. He learned a lot from Albert King and other fantastic players. Lets see videos of the critics who comment negatively. I dare you!

  • jonzguitar:

@guitaro321 LOL. You are an idiot dude, really… To say that SRV did not have actual knowledge of the instrument proves you are an idiot. He did know some theory. Jason Becker knows more. SO FUCKIN’ WHAT. And to say”not just a blues scale” further proves how much of an idiot you are. It doesn’t matter WHAT scales you are playing. What matters is HOW you play them. Jason Becker is an brilliant guitarist for what he plays. He can’t hold a candle to SRV in the world rhythm and blues.

Gotta like the 80’s shoulder pads! Awesome guitarist, shame he isn’t giving us new songs.

  • jarkanciofan:

stupid you cant compate jason becker, is horrible!

  • mitchakotaco:

all Stevie used was over wound single coils. you can buy any kind of vintage fender pickup. i used vintage noiseless an then overwound them. classic. The real tone was in his monstrous fingers. one of my family friends was friends with him growing up. my hands are as wide has his; but my fingers are thin & long, his were huge an long.

  • KenyonMartinITA:

    clapton learnt from him

  • TheMadMusicMan:

Yeah, Stevie did not use Texas specials as many people reckon, he used 59 pickups. He thought the guitar was a 59 but when the custom shop took off his neckl they learned it was a 63 Strat, not sure how right that is but that’s what they claim.

  • beomer1204:

Texas specials are made to model the effects of his Ibanez tube screamer in addition to the tone of his original ’59’s. “texas specials” is just a marketing gig…

  • cj1982:

huh.. i reckon the first edition of the SRV signature strat had texas specials in it. i could be incorrect. i never paid much attention to sig models…whats the difference between texas specials and the ’59’s?

  • guitarslinger808:

really the ones in his guitar in that video are 59′

  • skate41punk182:

Man, I like the part where he channels the sounds of Freddie King and Eric Clapton

The Freddie King one is like spot-on!

  • guitaro321:

Dude, Jason Becker is more than just speed, you clearly have not heard the album perspective. Jason Becker also has something this guy doesn’t which is actual knowledge of the instrument. Not just a blues scale. But in the end it’s all opinion so whatever.

  • cj1982:

Fender Texas Specials pickups. they’re the same one on the guitar hes playing in the video. I reckon he also used an Ibanez tube screamer, EXTREMELY thick strings, and he held the pick backwards. brilliant luck.

  • jks2:

i really wanna get that sound. who knows what kind if pickups i need to get that sound?

  • julsjm911:

amen to the SOUL thing!!……speed is just speed…bt its the feeling in a guy’s playing that matters most

  • 28beautifuldisaster:

joe sat isn’t even close… EJ blew him off the stage in that tour they did. The sad part is that joe always tries to show off but has no feel..

  • SoloGuitar95:

Joe Satriani is THE best tho

  • kdjfnvjvd:

Did you see his way of switching from the neck to the middle pickup? (2:39) That’s very hard to do! He always did it like that. R.I.P. Master.

  • 28beautifuldisaster:

i just watched jason becker. yea he is brilliant if you like a million notes played but he’s lacking something that i guess you are unaware of..the most vital thing..SOUL..LOL
If you like a million notes played eric johnson kicks his butt and so does alan hollsworth….lol

  • UrbanAssault5150:

IM SORRY JASON BECKER IS THE BEST

  • 28beautifuldisaster:

    quebuenaviola…(best in history) lol
no way bro.. Hendrix is the best
even stevie would tell ya that.. he might say bb though..

  • leftystrat62:

Better yet-he’s the best sounding guitarist on earth to ever play a Fender.

  • mickeyb1000:

That guy interviewing him is a muppet.

  • chuckmehh:

a very underrated singer….his guitar playing is obviously top notch..but dude can sing too

  • jks2:
